Shalimar Villas are located Seseh Beach in the verge of Pantai Seseh, a traditional Balinese fishermen village in the south west coast of Bali which is surrounded by the phenomenal natural beauty that Bali is famous for. On one side, the white horses of the Indian Ocean and on the other reams and reams of rice fields punctuated by clusters of coconut groves. This is a location of peace and serenity, and an altogether more authentic experience which is far enough from the madding crowds of Kuta, Seminyak, and Canggu, but close enough if at any moment guests like to dive into the trendy areas of Bali. Seseh lies between the trendy neighbourhood of Batu Bolong and Perenenan and the more traditional area of Tanah Lot.
Canggu is one of the busy and trendy areas of Bali and is famed for its surfing beaches including the legendary Echo Beach and Old Man’s. At Echo Beach there are also a variety of restaurants including some really delicious beachfront BBQ places. Other trendy eateries in the area include, Avocado Factory, Fabricca, Monsier Spoon, and Bottega Italiana between many other. There are also some great opportunities for a night out here at Deus, The Lawn, Old Man’s, Finns Beach Club and Single Fin. If you are looking to find even more Zen there is an excellent yoga center in Seseh called Udara Bali, which can be reached in just a minute walk from Shalimar Villas. Furthermore, the well-equipped Fins Recreation Club provides plenty of options for more activities, from tennis to ten pin bowling and water slides for the kids.
Tanah lot and Tabanan
Tanah Lot is a pilgrimage site on the south west coast of the island and for centuries its offshore temple has been the place the Balinese have come to worship the Sea Gods. In more recent years because of its truly breath-taking setting, perched on a rocky outcrop, it has become a particular favourite with visitors to the island. The Nirwana Golf Course (which is on renovation now) is located nearby and it is famous for the incredible views overlooking the Indian Ocean and the temple of Tanah Lot, providing one of the most beautiful 18 hole courses in the world. Another option is to move inland and explore the Tabanan regency which has some incredible volcanic scenery, beautiful rice terraces, and well-hidden hotsprings.
Seminyak is the nearest main town and it provides a wealth of activities and facilities depending on what you are looking for. Some of the best shopping on the island is offered up by a bevy of small independent high end boutiques and there are some excellent restaurants providing exceptional international cuisine. Also in this location are Ku De Ta, Potato Head and the W, all of which are beach clubs that provide excellent food and have DJ’s until the early hours of a balmy morning.
